The Biden administration took a week to condemn left-wing violence

Pro-abortion activists are proving themselves a greater threat to the country than a man smiling and carrying Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s lectern through the Capitol building or a parent protesting at a local school board meeting. Pro-abortion activists are proving themselves a greater threat to the country than a man smiling and carrying Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s lectern through the Capitol building or a parent protesting at a local school board meeting. Yet the latter two have been treated far more harshly by the Biden administration because, well, they don’t have the right politics.

After a draft Supreme Court opinion overturning Roe v. Wade was leaked to Politico last week, pro-abortion groups used intimidation and violence to try to retain the “right” to kill their unborn children. The prevailing theory is that the leak itself was done to mobilize opposition to the opinion and get the justices to change their minds. The left took up this mantle almost immediately, organizing at the Supreme Court and, eventually, outside the homes of the conservative Supreme Court justices.

About 100 protesters marched and chanted between the homes of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and Chief Justice John Roberts on Saturday night. The Biden administration initially refused to condemn this behavior, with press secretary Jen Psaki excusing the protesters as “passionate” and “scared.”

“The president’s view is that there’s a lot of passion, a lot of fear, a lot of sadness from many, many people across this country about what they saw in that leaked document,” she said. “We want it, of course, to be peaceful, and certainly the president would want people’s privacy to be respected.”

The Biden Department of Justice, which recently announced new “climate cops” to police pollution, created a threat tag for parents who organized recalls of local school board members, and sought to “make an example” of a non-violent January 6 protester with a four-plus year sentence, had lain dormant in the face of a blatant attempt to undermine the judicial process. There has been no indication they will assist in attempts to find the leaker of the draft opinion, nor are there flyers at every bus stop seeking identification of the pro-abortion protesters rallying outside of justices’ homes. No subpoenas have gone out to the blue-check Twitter accounts egging on potential violence.

The US Code describes protests intended to sway justices during active cases as obstruction of justice: “Whoever, with the intent of interfering with, obstructing, or impeding the administration of justice , or with the intent of influencing any judge … [pickets or parades] in or near a building or residence occupied or used by such judge … shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year.”

Naturally, given the Biden administration’s inaction, the left’s attempts at intimidation have escalated into violence. Pro-abortion protesters threw rocks and bottles at police officers in Los Angeles over the weekend, smashed a police cruiser, and injured at least one officer. A Catholic church in Colorado was vandalized with spray paint that said, “My body, my choice.” A pro-life organization’s headquarters was set on fire and vandalized on Sunday. Pro-abortion activists attempted to intimidate churchgoers on Sunday by infiltrating and disrupting Catholic masses across the country and threatened to burn the Eucharist. A law signed by President Bill Clinton in 1994 prohibits attempts to intimidate or interfere with individuals exercising their First Amendment right to religious freedom.

The Biden administration finally issued a condemnation of the violence on Monday. Psaki said that protest “should never include violence, threats, or vandalism.”

“Judges perform an incredibly important function in our society, and they must be able to do their jobs without concern for their personal safety,” Psaki said.

When it took Trump an hour to condemn the January 6 riots, he was accused of complicity in any violence and impeached for allegedly citing an insurrection. The Biden administration took a week to condemn the arguably illegal and obviously menacing pro-abortion protests. Republicans will likely do nothing but tweet.
