Stalingrad approaches: Democratic House, Republican Senate

Compared to 1994, 2006, and 2010, this would appear a tamer reaction to an embattled president

It’s not wrapped up yet, but a Democratic House is a Democratic House. Subpoenas and calls for impeachment from some on the Left are certain. It looks like a split decision. As Steve Bannon told the Spec on this scenario last month: ‘Stalingrad every day.’

Even still, there are poor omens for 2020 for the Democrats. Florida – the state that angry Puerto Ricans were supposed to deliver to the Left – appears to be veering hard right. Tea Party darling Rick Scott and Trumpist tribune Ron DeSantis appear on their way to somewhat unexpected triumphs.
