He’s a raving, rambling, so-called ‘journalist’, the subject of one of 2018’s biggest free speech debates, a man whose confrontational manner and conspiratorial tone has earned the ire of many of his peers in the press. He’s a raving, rambling, so-called ‘journalist’, the subject of one of 2018’s biggest free speech debates, a man whose confrontational manner and conspiratorial tone has earned the ire of many of his peers in the press. But CNN’s Jim Acosta may soon have a rival for the press briefing limelight – in the shape of Infowars owner and trans porn enthusiast Alex Jones.

Cockburn was amused to stumble upon a petition on the White House website, entitled ‘Give Alex Jones press credentials and sit him next to Jim Acosta’. Created nine days ago by Florida man Terry Christopher, its mission is simple:

‘Alex Jones’ first amendment rights are being violated everyday he does not have White House press credentials.

THIS IS AMERICA!

Let Alex Jones have press credentials and a permanent seat next to Jim Acosta!’

To garner an official response from the White House, a petition must reach 100,000 signatures within 30 days – and Terry’s attempt is well on the way, with over 40,000 at the time of writing.

Presumably Jones is supportive of the idea – he’s banned from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Spotify, but his site, Infowars, have syndicated a version of the story from the Washington Times. In recent months, the Texas-based radio host has garnered attention for screaming Beto O’Rourke’s name at a dog turd, dressing as a gay frog for Halloween and inadvertently displaying a trans porn video on his broadcast.

The usually very vocal Acosta has yet to comment.
